Howler Timer App Reviews

Love it!

No matter where I am in the house, I can hear Howler. Of course, it helps that when it goes off, the 110 pound real dog joins in, so I get DOUBLE reminders!

Updated version wont complete update?

Ive used Howler for some time and Ive never had any issues with the program. As a timer it works great and I use it often. But, this most recent update I downloaded continues to say that it is installed but still shows as a current update. It is highlighted on my taskbar and wont clear itself out of my update area. As far as I know the update has been installed (the format was slightly upgraded and as said before it says "installed" in the update list) - it just wont go away. Am I missing something? I wish this update notification would go away.

Its not perfect but its alright

Its an alright app, but it removed the seconds display that I needed on the menu bar if its over a minute even though it says that if you upgrade to pro, you get seconds on the menu bar. Misleading... Dont know why the creator removed this and didnt allow an option to turn it back on. Also, the ap needs an option to minimize to the menu bar. I dont like that it minimizes to the dock. Other applications like this (Flux, Cinch, etc.), have options to display the timer in the menu bar. If youre a perfectionist, and you like to command + tab to switch between windows it gets annoying that the timer is in that display. If the creator can enable these two options, then Ill give it 5/5. Otherwise, its a no frills timer and it does what it is supposed to.

Great App for Mac !

This app is great is you put in more that 60 minutes it will upgrade that to however many days or hours. It also the elapsed time so it is kind of like a stopwatch. It also (last also) Lets you name the time.

Meh

It doesnt give the option to hide in the menu bar. I dont want a simple timer app clogging up my dock and cmd+tab list.

Simple and effective, with a few flaws

I do like this application, if youre looking for a simple timer this is the way to go. However the stopwatch interface is a little bit awkward (you have to go into a menu to activate it and then the edit time boxes are still there). So great timer, awkward stopwatch.

Simple, does just one thing and does it right.

That is all.

Great App

Works perfectly and does what it needs to do.

Perfect. Love the presets!

This is a great little program.

simple and effective

I cant say enough about how great a timer this is. So simple. No distractions. It says what it does and does what it says. This is a must have app as far as I am concerned.

The best timing tracker for GMAT

Love it!

Was what I was Looking for.

This is a really good timer, Just what I needed. I like that I can use my own sounds instead, perfect. Thanks so much. simple and neat, Good job!

error on the install

this was a great app but in os x 10.9.1 this app had a update but it said it had a error on the install I don’t know what the problem is but I wish the problems with this update would get fixed thanks

Does what it says, very well.

Does what it says. I use it to break up my work into timed chunks. Very effective and easy to use. And when there was problem, Stephen Lind took care of it cleanly and effectively. Great value

It has never worked for me.

Ive tried to get a hold of the company and to no avail, it still doesnt work and I must uninstall.

Easy to use and does what it says

I recently had back surgery and am working towards recovery. I use this to remind myself when to get up, when to move around and for how long, as well as using it to help me with switching between different work projects. The ability to have multiple timers going is great.

Needs tweaks

I upgraded to Howler Pro via an in app purchase, but it won’t let me comment on the paid version. Anyways: 1) The thing I dislike the most is that you can only make new timers by clicking the Howler app icon, going to file, and selecting “New Howler” TERRIBLY inconvenient! Why can’t I just right click the Howler icon, or something intuitively simple like that? 2) I don’t understand why the timers have to be minimized to the dock area?... The app seems cheap when you can’t X a timer after it’s been created to hide it, but instead have to collect them in the dock area. This also makes my dock unnecessarily bulky. You should be able to manage timers in a more efficient, concealed manner.

I love you.

I just downloaded this app because I am severely distractable and therefore never get anything done. (I’m also prone to exaggeration. lol) So I decided to use a timer to remind me when its time to move on to the next task. I love this app because it is simple enough for me to figure out how to use right out of the box. The wolf just now told me it is time to step away from the emails and move on. No obnoxious alarm. Just a five second countdown to a quiet but perfectly audible howl. I highly recommend this app to anyone who like me loves technology but but needs it to be simple and straight forward.

Great app for workouts

Downloaded this app because my cell phone was dead and I normally use it to time workouts. With this app, I can set two alarms for a rest interval between sets and between exercises. The timer begins its crow calls which prompt me to get ready for the next lift, and then the howl goes off. I don’t have to shut off the alarm because it howls once. After the lift, I simply start the appropriate alarm. It really makes it easy to keep moving quickly through my workout so I can make good use of my time.

Simple, effective and neat.

I love it when an app does exactly what you need without any complicated frills. Excellent freeware.
